Be a Part of History in Brookfield
Brookfield has been an integral part of Southeastern Wisconsin since the mid-1800s! Did you know that Caroline Quiner, the mother of Laura Ingalls Wilder, was born in a cabin in 1839 in what is now Brookfield? By 1840, we got our first school house, and then ten years later the Milwaukee and Mississippi Railroad (now known as the Canadian Pacific Rail) built a railroad though our growing town. Our town weathered the Civil War, both World Wars, the Great Depression, and was even home to the infamous Al Capone. We’ve experienced a rich and robust history here in Brookfield, and there’s so much to learn! Check out these historic points of interest to discover Brookfield’s place in history.
