INSIDER’S GUIDE
Winter at the Zoo
Who doesn’t love the zoo? And the Milwaukee County Zoo is not just for summer visits. There’s still lots to see and do during the fall and winter months. Safety for the animals and their people is a priority, so some habitats like the Hippo Haven are closed November-March, but inside exhibits are open year-round. And some of our animal friends are even more active when it’s cooler. In addition to the animals, the Zoo has several holiday events to enjoy….
Wild Nights and Frosty Nights
November 30- December 31. Closed December 2, 9, 16, 24, & 25
During this festive season, the Zoo will transform into an illuminated destination with hundreds of thousands of sparkling lights- even more than last year! Enjoy an enchanted evening under the stars with pathways and forested areas specially adorned with twinkling lights and decorative displays.
Family Free Day
December 7
December is a tranquil time to visit the Zoo, and on December 7, it’s even better with free admission! (Parking and regular attraction fees still apply.). Fun fact about Arya, Charisa, Cheyenne, and Kai the female elk- they’re the loudest of the deer family, and only males have antlers- they’re often mistaken for moose.
Frosty Free Week 2024
It’s the season of giving, and the Zoo offers a week of free daytime admission to thank guests for their support. Visit the Zoo during “Frosty Free Week” to enjoy animals and nature. All guests receive free daytime admission December 26-30, 2024. (Regular parking, concession, and attraction rates apply. Regular admission rates apply to the Zoo’s Wild Lights night event.)
